Ky. State Police: Inmate At Fulton Co. Detention Center Died Of Heart Attack

Saturday Update: Kentucky State Police say preliminary autopsy results found Prather died of a heart attack. No foul play is suspected.

Kentucky State Police is investigating the death of an inmate at the Fulton County Detention Center.

According to a release on Friday, KSP Post 1 received a call at 2:10 p.m.

A preliminary investigation found 56-year-old Tommy Prather of Mayfield started having chest pains in his cell. Jail staff responded and took Prather to their medical center where he became unresponsive. CPR was initiated.

EMS arrived and transported Prather to a hospital in Union City, Tennessee, where he was pronounced deceased. 

Police say no foul play is suspected. An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday. The investigation is continuing.
