Mayfield Consumer Products CEO Troy Propes announces the expansion at an event this week in Mayfield, Ky.

A candle products manufacturer in Mayfield is investing more than $8.3 million to expand operations, creating 52 full-time jobs.

Mayfield Consumer Products manufactures branded candles and home fragrance products.

The company is adding to its current operations and expanding into a dormant facility in Graves County.

The family-owned company is using $5.5 million to purchase and renovate the more than 80,000 square foot former Remington facility on Rifle Trail, referred to as the Hickory Pointe plant. This new facility will create 35 jobs, increase capacity and create new manufacturing capabilities, which includes decorating glass jars that the candle product is filled into.

MCP is also using $2.77 million to expand its existing operation and hire 17 employees.

According to a release from Governor Matt Bevin’s office, the company is expanding as a response to increased consumer demand.

CEO Troy Propes said in the release, “We are excited about the growth that MCP has been blessed with.”

“It’s a reflection of the dedicated employees that continue to surpass our customer’s expectations. We would like to thank our community leadership for their passion and commitment to MCP and Gov. Bevin and his economic development team for sharing our vision. As Mayfield/Graves County natives, we are thrilled to remain not only in Kentucky but in Western Kentucky!,” Propes said.

Bevin said the company has been a “strong corporate citizen” since its founding 20 years ago. “These 52 new jobs will provide a significant boost to the local economy, and returning a dormant facility to operation is an added bonus of this exciting venture. Congratulations to MCP and the people of Graves County on this growing partnership," he said.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority, in two phases, preliminarily approved MCP for tax incentives up to $1 million through the Kentucky Business Investment program.

MCP was founded in Mayfield in 1998 and currently employs 245 people. The Propes family retained MCP after divesting their interests in MVP Group International.
