KSP Hosts Citizens' Academy and Trooper Island Truck Raffle

The Kentucky State Police hold a ten-week Citizens' Police Academy starting tomorrow night, March 19 in Murray. The Academy provides an opportunity to become familiar with police operations, to allow citizens to become better informed about the actual role of a police officer. KSP Post 1 Information Officer Jay Thomas visits Sounds Good to talk with Tracy about the Academy, the longstanding KSP philanthropy Trooper Island and the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 truck raffle.

The Citizens' Academy meets Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at the Murray Calloway County Transit Authority, located at 1111 Transit Way in Murray. Students will receive instruction from certified troopers. For more information on this, contact Trooper First Class Jay Thomas at 270-856-3721, or visit kentuckystatepolice.org/posts/post1.htm.

Trooper Island is part of the Kentucky State Police's long-range program of public service to the youth of Kentucky. The program is dedicated to the development of self-image: building the body through food and exercise, developing mental capabilities for the classroom and spiritual growth through nondenominational chapel services. The philanthropy is holding a raffle for a GMC Sierra 1500 SLE, at $10 a ticket from any KSP Trooper, CVE Oficer or from any of the 16 KSP posts in Kentucky. The winning ticket will be drawn on August 24, 2014 at the Kentucky State Fair.
