Shelter for Homeless Women and Children Is Underway in Paducah
A Paducah Cooperative Ministry project is underway to provide housing to homeless women and children. A village consisting of six units is expected to open this Fall.
The shelter will provide a home-like environment along with a comprehensive series of financial, health and parenting workshops.
Executive Director Heidi Suhrheinrich says the project is only halfway funded, but construction is already underway due to pressing need.
"Every day that goes by that we get phone calls from single women and single moms with kids and we have to say 'I'm sorry, we don't have anything for you,' that's another day at risk for those families and individuals." said Suhrheinrich. "That's unacceptable to us. We're trying to just get this done and get back to business as usual."
The PCM is accepting donations to assist with project funding. More information is online at paducahcoopministry.org and by calling the PCM office at (270)-442-6795.
