Calloway County Library Board Looking to Begin Expansion in Mid-2018

Rob Canning, WKMS

The Calloway County Public Library expansion and renovation efforts are expected to pick up again in the new year.

CCPL Board of Trustees chair Ricky Lampkin said the board will take a few months to “get everyone up to speed” on previously submitted plans before proceeding with the project. He said the board’s goal is to begin construction in 2018.

“I would like to think by March or April we’ll have an architect identified and employed. He’ll get to work on the 5,000 square-foot expansion first. I would like to hope we could put that out for bid possibly in the summer,” said Lamkin.

The Board considered doing a 25,000 to 30,000 square-foot expansion before they cut taxes in the summer of 2016. Lamkin said they look to expand within the $2.8 million they have available and would proceed with additional expansions after accumulating the necessary funds to do so.
