Sounds Good Week Ahead: January 26 - 30

Here's the outlook for who's on Sounds Good this week:

Monday, January 26

Curator Myers Brown is with us in the first hour to describe the Tennessee State Museum's Civil War exhibit, Common People in Uncommon Times, at the Paris-Henry County Heritage Center.

Murray State President Dr. Bob Davies joins us in the second hour to discuss legislative priorities for 2015, President Obama's plan for free community college, how the tobacco free policy will be enforced and the hiring of the new MSU football coach.

Tuesday, January 27

In the first hour, we continue our series "Understanding Depression" with Murray State Assistant Professor of Psychology Dr. Michael Bordieri. This time, the topic is New Year's Resolutions - making them and keeping them.

In the second hour, Daryl Phillipy of MSU's Theatre Department previews "That Dream You Had Last Night"

Wednesday, January 28

In the first hour, Michael Dickens, Gallery Director of the Trahern Gallery at Austin Peay State University, on  the exhibit "Sound" - created by Dickens and Barry Jones, featuring 17 artists from across the country who use sound as the main or only element in their work.

In the second hour, we learn about First Lady Jane Beshear's Commonwealth Garden Initiative, seeking applicants who would like to begin the process of having their own garden to encourage healthy eating and locally grown foods within their community.

Thursday, January 29

In the first hour, we'll get a preview of "Arsenic And Old Lace," opening the 2015 season at Playhouse in the Park, January 30 - February 8.

In the second hour, we'll learn about Hopkinsville Community College's National Science Foundation TERC grant, which has a focus on improving the undergraduate STEM experience.

Friday, January 30

In the first hour, we meet Prashant Chakradhar of Murray High School, selected to be in the 2015 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band. 

In the second hour, we'll learn about the West Kentucky Regional High School Science Bowl, organized by the U.S. Department of Energy, at WKCTC on February 20.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
