What if a middle school science teacher was humanity's last hope? That is the premise Andy Weir brought to life in Project Hail Mary, and it's the message at the heart of Challenger Center: to change the world and improve the future through STEM.
The Challenger Learning Center at Paducah is excited to announce we will be participating in a virtual webinar live with Andy Weir that will include Q&A with the author, moderated by national Challenger Center president Mike Kinkaid. Becuase we have access to this webinar, so do you!
Please join us on May 4, 2026, from 3 to 4 pm at the Clemens Fine Arts Center on the campus of West Kentucky Community and Technical College to be part of this very special event. We will join other Challenger Learning Centers around the country to hear from this talented author.

Level Up Your Garden: Hand-Stamped Metal Markers
It’s almost time to get those starters in the ground! Give your herb garden a personalized touch with a set of durable, stylish metal markers. In this laid-back, hands-on session, you’ll learn the ropes of metal stamping to create custom tags that keep your plants organized and your garden looking sharp.
Whether you’re a long-time grower or just starting your first flower bed, you’ll leave with a set of permanent markers that add a bit of character to your outdoor space. Just bring your creativity—all supplies will be provided.
What we’ll cover:*Easy techniques for getting clean, stamped letters.*How to line up your designs for a clean look.*Fun ways to customize your markers with simple patterns.
All meetings begin at 6:00 PM unless otherwise noted here. Meetings are held in the Council Chamber on the first floor of the Hopkinsville Municipal Center at 715 South Virginia Street. Meetings are broadcast live on YouTube and by tuning to City TV on Spectrum Cable Channel 376.

It features age-appropriate stories, songs, and activities based upon the foundation of the research-based Very Ready Reading Program, which offers seven ways to immerse kids in early literacy and reading readiness. Teen to Adult, novice to experienced, amateur folk-music enthusiasts to professionals. Of particular interest to Ethnomusicology, Folklore, Regional Studies, Louisiana Studies
Louis Michot will lead the audience through a chronological musical program starting with the oldest roots of Louisiana French music and demonstrate how instruments and song styles have changed over time. In the process he’ll discuss the origins and cultural context of the music as he’s learned from elders discuss and demonstrate the influence of diverse cultures that make Cajun, Creole, and Zydeco musics what they are today.
