Mahr Park Arboretum’s favorite fall traditions will return! Throughout October, our annual Hay Bale Trail transforms the Arboretum into a whimsical autumn wonderland filled with 80+ creatively decorated hay bale displays, each with its own unique theme and personality.

We take fall decorating seriously, so grab a warm drink, gather your family, and enjoy a scenic drive or stroll through a season bursting with pumpkins, hay bales, colorful leaves, and unforgettable photo opportunities. Whether you’re celebrating your favorite season or simply looking for a little autumn magic, the Hay Bale Trail is a fall tradition you won’t want to miss!

Fall break is all about wolves at the Woodlands Nature Station! Come visit our resident endangered Red Wolves and join their “pack” of wolf admirers. Attend special wolf programs offered each day. Discover why these cunning canines have inspired awe in people for generations.

A full schedule for the week will be available in late summer. All activities will be included with general admission, which is $7 for ages 16+ and free for ages 15 and under.

Four actresses and a writer, playing versions of themselves, travel to an old mill in the Spanish countryside to rehearse a new play about fairy tales and princesses. As they work on the play, they learn about each other’s lives, explore the mill and the nearby town, and begin to break down the barriers between art and reality. Presented as part of the Spanish Film Club series with the support of Pragda and the Secretary of State for Culture of Spain. In Spanish with English subtitles.

Murray State Paddle Battle 🏓💙💛

The Murray State Paddle Battle is a fundraising pickleball tournament supporting the Murray State University Softball program. Players of all skill levels are invited to come compete, have fun, and support a great cause!

18th Annual Kentucky State Disc Golf Championships

Join us in Madisonville, KY, for the 18th Annual Kentucky State Disc Golf Championships (PDGA A-Tier). This premier event features three days of competitive disc golf for Pros and Amateurs across two beautiful scenic courses.

Campanile Productions and the Pennyroyal Arts Council are partnering for our third year to bring A Christmas Carol, The Musical to the Alhambra Theatre in December 2026.
Auditions are happening on Sunday, October 4th at the Campanile Building on 401 West 9th in Hopkinsville, KY.

Please bring a 16-32 bar cut of a song of your choice. No accompaniment will be provided, so please bring a karaoke or other track to use. Please no acapella auditions. Auditions are open to actors age 8 & up.

Michael Johnathon performs in concert for the Hickman County Memorial Library Sunday October 4 at 2PM.

Michael Johnathon is a log cabin dwelling, banjo and guitar playing folksinger and poet. He created the syndicated, live-audience broadcast of WoodSongs, heard on nearly 500 radio stations naTIPNWIDE. WoodSongs airs as a TV series on KET, the Kentucky Channel and PBS TV affiliates across America. He created the new TV series called WoodSongs Kids described as “Mister Rogers meets the Grand Ole Opry” also on KET and PBS stations and are both supported by Kentucky Tourism

Michael and the national WoodSongs fan base collected and distributed over 5,000 music instruments to musicians who lost everything in the tornadoes of western Kentucky, the floods of Appalachia and the storms of Helene, with over 1000 people standing in line at Warren Wilson College in Asheville to receive free guitars, banjos, fiddle, mandolins cellos and more

He is recipient of the prestigious Milner Award, the highest award given to any artist in Kentucky, presented by Gov. Andy Beshear. Aside from 23 albums and 6 published books, his latest release is a book of POETRY called SEEDS, already nominated as Kentucky Poet Laureate and will be featured at the Kentucky Book Festival this November.
