Join @murraystatemusic for the first Jazz Concert of the school year! Tuesday, September 29 at 6:00pm in Lovett Auditorium, featuring the Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Band, Blue Jazz Combo & Gold Jazz Combo!

The jazz program at Murray State University is designed to present the highest level of performance in the idiom while providing a framework of strategies for the aspiring music educator. All types jazz are explored including swing, Latin and rock styles. First year faculty member, Dr. Jonathan Nickell, will make his conducting debut!

Louisville vocalist Marilyn Kington brings her dynamic voice and heartfelt artistry to the Glema Center for an unforgettable evening of music. Known for her engaging stage presence and versatile repertoire, Kington has built a respected career performing across the region, delighting audiences with her rich tone and expressive style. A proud Hopkins County native with deep roots in the community, Kington’s return to Madisonville makes this performance especially meaningful. Join us for a special homecoming concert that celebrates both her remarkable journey and the enduring connection to the place she calls home.

Directed by Dr. Brent Johnson, the wind ensemble is a premier auditioned concert band that performs several times a year on campus and at major state and regional events. The symphonic band, directed by Dr. Ashley Shoupe, is an auditioned ensemble that performs traditional and contemporary selections in one concert each semester.

Emerging as one of the most compelling chamber ensembles of their generation, the Cerus Quartet is dedicated to showcasing the dynamic and versatile sound of the saxophone quartet. With a repertoire spanning contemporary compositions and transcriptions of classical masterworks, the quartet seeks to establish the saxophone quartet as a leading voice in 21st-century classical music. Their mission is driven by diverse, engaging programming and innovative visual elements that captivate audiences.

Celebrate the joy of the season with the MCC Singers Christmas Concert, a festive evening of music presented by volunteer singers from all walks of life, united by a shared passion for music and a love of singing together. Filled with holiday favorites, classic carols, and joyful harmonies, this beloved annual tradition captures the true spirit of Christmas.

Known around the world for its eclectic repertoire and dazzling virtuosity, the Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer has been hailed by the Boston Globe as “breathtaking in its accuracy of intonation, purity of blend, of color and swagger of style.” Founded in San Francisco in 1978 by singer and musicologist Louis Botto, Chanticleer quickly took its place as one of the most prolific recording and touring ensembles in the world, an “orchestra of voices” performing thousands of live concerts and selling more than one million recordings.

Dylan LeBlanc is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who often finds himself flirting with the edge — or “dancing on a razor,” as he calls it. Known for his haunting vocals and atmospheric blend of folk, Americana, and indie rock, LeBlanc creates a deeply personal concert experience that draws listeners in from the very first note. This special performance offers a rare opportunity to hear one of today’s most compelling singer-songwriters up close in a relaxed, listening-room atmosphere.

Basso Vox is a boundary-pushing duo that reimagines the roles and expressive possibilities of the double bass and bassoon in chamber music. Comprising two trailblazing soloists—double bassist Nina Bernat and bassoonist Eleni Katz—the duo brings a distinctly vocal approach to their transcriptions and original repertoire, highlighting the often-overlooked singing qualities of their instruments. In Latin, Basso Vox translates to “Bass Voice.”

Featuring spot-on renditions of classics like ‘Cheeseburger in Paradise,’ ‘Fins,’ and ‘Margaritaville,’ A1A delivers the tropical escape Parrotheads know and love. With a full band, beachside vibes, and a fun, audience-friendly atmosphere, this nationally acclaimed tribute transports fans to island time—no passport required.
